What you’ll need

A phone, tablet or laptop. A calculator for the money question.

Let’s play

1. Open papitoco.com/press-start and play one 30-second round in 1985. 2. Switch to 1977, then 2020. Talk about what changed. 3. Read What it cost for each year and answer the Dad's turn question. 4. Add up the launch prices, then the today's-dollars column. Which is bigger, and why? 5. Dad picks the year he was your age and tells you what he played.

Your part in the adventure

Play first so they see you lose. Then tell them what you played at their age and what it cost.

What they’re discovering

How technology improves step by step, why a screen is a grid of dots, and how inflation changes what a dollar buys.

Before you begin

Screen time with a parent. Sound is off by default.

Keep the idea going

Keep a family high score per era on the fridge.

Every child is different. Adjust activities for their age and abilities, and stay close by. These are play ideas, not medical or developmental advice.
