Get ready
5 minutes. Gather socks and markers.
What you’ll need
Old socks, markers, stickers, and the back of a couch as your stage.
Let’s play
1. Pick a sock each and give it a face with markers or stickers.
2. Give each puppet a name and a funny voice.
3. Duck behind the couch and put on a three-minute show.
4. Swap puppets so your kid makes yours talk.
Your part in the adventure
Play the shy puppet who needs a little encouragement to speak.
What they’re discovering
They’re practicing language, taking turns and naming feelings through a character.
Before you begin
Skip buttons and small decorations if your kid still puts things in their mouth.
Keep the idea going
Ages 6 to 8 can write a short script and sell pretend tickets.
Every child is different. Adjust activities for their age and abilities, and stay close by. These are play ideas, not medical or developmental advice.
