Where you’re going
6955 SW 104th Street, Pinecrest, FL 33156
Make the visit your own
1. Tree gallery. From the path, point out three different leaf or branch shapes.
2. Lawn shapes. Walk giant triangles, circles and zigzags across the open grass.
3. Five senses pause. Name one sound, one color and one thing you can feel, without picking or disturbing the plants.
A flexible mini-itinerary
1. First 10 minutes. Find the restrooms, some water and a shady spot to regroup.
2. Next 25 minutes. Playground, or run around on the lawn.
3. Around 35 minutes in. Take a short walk on the paths and look for shapes.
4. Last 10 minutes. Quiet snack, and ask what their favorite find was.
Admission and costs
It’s a regular park visit. Check with the village if you plan to reserve anything or use a paid facility.
Getting there and parking
Check visitor parking with Pinecrest before you go. The tennis courts and multipurpose areas sometimes host programs.
Access and family facilities
The village lists a playground, picnic tables, shade, restrooms, water fountains, paths and a pineland preserve. Stay on the marked paths in the preserve.
A bite to eat
Bring water and a small snack.
There are picnic tables, but we couldn’t confirm any food for sale.
Weather and an easier pace
The big trees give you some shade, but it’s still Miami. Bring water, sunscreen and bug spray if you need it.
Before you begin
Stay off the sports courts unless they’re open to you. Don’t let the kids touch plants they don’t know, and keep out of protected habitat. Stay close near the parking lot and paths.
