Where you’re going

Make the visit your own
1. The three-detail detective. At an aquarium viewing area, let your child choose something they can see. Take turns noticing its color, shape and movement. Ages 3 to 5 can point or act out a movement; ages 6 to 8 can compare two observations and explain a difference.
2. A story beneath the water. Invent a short journey for a creature you have just observed. You begin with one sentence, your child adds the next. Ask what your character might need, then separate what you really saw from what you imagined.
3. Guess, try, notice. Choose one exhibit that allows visitor interaction. Read the instructions together, make a prediction and try the permitted action. Ask, “What changed?” Let your child choose whether to investigate again or move on.
A flexible mini-itinerary
Arrive and settle in. Use the restroom, check your route and choose one thing your child wants to investigate.
Follow their curiosity. Try the three-detail game at one aquarium viewing area, then choose one permitted exhibit interaction. Pause whenever attention fades.
Leave room for a break. Sit, have water where permitted or check the café. Ask your child to tell you one surprising thing before heading home.
This is a loose plan from us, not a museum program. The museum sets admission, lines and show times. If staying home sounds better, try our Quiet Sound Studio.
Admission and costs
Paid admission. Ticket prices and inclusions depend on your visit. Check the museum’s official visitor page before purchasing; PAPITO does not sell or reserve these tickets.
Getting there and parking
The museum has limited paid on-site garage parking. Check its parking page for current rates and entry instructions. Museum Park Metromover station is another arrival option.
Access and family facilities
The museum lists elevators connecting its levels, accessible restrooms on levels 1 to 5 and family restrooms with changing stations beside the main restrooms. Ask Guest Experience about a suitable stroller route and any exhibition restrictions. Sensory toolkits are listed as available first come, first served, not guaranteed.
A bite to eat
Food@Science, on site. The museum’s official dining page lists this Level 1 West Wing café, a children’s menu and indoor and covered outdoor seating. Check the current menu and service before relying on it. The museum does not permit outside food or beverages. Ask the venue directly about allergies and any exceptions.
Official café and dining information. Food@Science isn’t a PAPITO partner, and meals cost extra.
Weather and an easier pace
This is a four-building campus with indoor galleries and exposed areas. Plan around indoor exhibits and skip outdoor terraces in poor conditions. An indoor exhibit is not a guarantee of safe travel or shelter from lightning. Delay the outing when flooding, lightning or severe weather makes travel hazardous.
Before you begin
An adult stays with the child throughout. Follow exhibition instructions, keep hands away from aquarium glass and never tap the tanks. Skip any interaction that is restricted or uncomfortable. These play ideas do not require touching animals or equipment.
